FAQ & support

Answers, down to earth.

The questions people ask most about setting up and using Orbit. Can't find yours? Get in touch.

Getting started

What is Orbit?

An IPTV player for Fire TV, Android TV and Google TV. It plays the playlists and logins you already have from an IPTV service, sorts everything into countries and categories, and learns what each person at home likes to watch.

Does Orbit come with channels?

No. Orbit doesn't provide, host or sell any channels, films or series. You add your own M3U playlist or Xtream Codes login, and should only use it with content you have the right to watch.

How do I add my provider?

Open Orbit and scan the QR code with your phone, then type your playlist address or Xtream Codes login on the phone. You can also type it with the remote. Got two services? Add both: Orbit merges them, and each becomes a backup for the other.

My provider gave me a get.php link. Is that right?

Yes. Orbit recognises a get.php?username=… link as an Xtream Codes login and uses the faster Xtream API instead, so films, series and the guide load properly too.

How do I install Orbit?

With the free Downloader app. The install guide walks through it for Fire TV and for Android TV and Google TV.

Channels & guide

A channel is in the wrong category.

Hold OK on the channel and choose Change category…. Orbit remembers your fix and applies it every time the list refreshes.

Can I choose which version of a channel plays?

Yes. Hold OK on the channel and choose Stream source… to see every version Orbit found, across all your providers. Normally it plays the best one and switches to another by itself if that stream fails.

Some channels have no guide.

Orbit matches guide data by channel ID first, then by name. If your provider's guide doesn't list a channel at all, you can add a different XMLTV guide address when you edit the provider.

How often does Orbit update my lists?

Every few hours in the background, and never while you're watching. A new guide only replaces the old one once it has fully loaded.

Devices & playback

Which devices does Orbit run on?

Fire TV devices on Fire OS 6 or later, and Android TV or Google TV devices on Android 6 or later. It's tuned to stay smooth on 1 GB sticks. Fire TVs running Vega OS can't run Android apps, so Orbit can't run on them.

A channel has no sound.

Open the options while it plays (≡, or hold OK) and try another audio track. Orbit plays MP2, AC-3, E-AC-3 and DTS itself when the TV can't.

My remote has no menu button.

Hold OK anywhere in Orbit to open the options for whatever you're on.

How many channels can multi-view show?

Up to four, or two on devices with 1 GB of memory. The highlighted picture has the sound; press OK to watch it full screen.

Profiles

What does each profile keep separate?

Favourites, history, Continue watching, My List and recommendations. Providers, tidying and settings are shared by everyone on the TV.

When does Orbit ask "Who's watching?"

When it's picked up after half an hour without use and there's more than one profile. Quick returns go straight back to the last person. You can switch any time from the avatar next to the Orbit logo.

Can I stop Orbit remembering what I watch?

Yes. Each profile can pause its history: while it's paused, nothing that person watches is remembered or used for recommendations.

Pricing

How much does Orbit cost?

£0.99 a month or £7.99 a year, with every feature in both. See pricing.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. When you sign up you can try everything free for 12 hours.

Privacy & safety

What does Orbit send anywhere?

Orbit talks directly to the IPTV services you add. To show artwork and recommendations it looks up film and series titles on TMDB, never who you are, your provider or your login. Diagnostics only leave the TV when you choose to send them, with logins and addresses removed. More in the privacy policy.

Is adult content shown?

Not unless you turn it on. It's off out of the box, and turning it on (or changing the PIN) needs the parental PIN.

Where are my logins kept?

On your TV. A backup file includes your provider logins so it can restore them, so keep it somewhere safe.
